Aristocrat Black Opal Classic Fours a winner

Club Patron, "Father" Cooper presenting the winning side of the Wodonga team - Peter Daly, John Dawson, Richard Schutt and Ross McGuire - with their cheque for $10,000
The Aristocrat Black Opal Classic Fours played over four day last week certainly met the expectations of both players and organisers.

During the highly rated tournament, which has become a showcase for some of Australia's finest bowlers, excellent, tightly contended matches were played, to the delight of spectators.

The "three times winner" Pritchard side finally succumbed to a jubilant combination from Wodonga, Peter Daly, John Dawson, Richard Schutt and Ross "Turnaround" Maguire in the tightly fought final. To this large contingent of bowlers who converge upon the Ridge annually the social aspect of the five days is as important as producing a good day's bowls.

It certainly appears that bowlers are born performers as Wednesday nights karaoke revealed with Mr "Turnaround" helping to create a turnaround in this prestigious event.

Far more than a world champion axeman, David Foster, was a captivating entertainer as too was Elvis (Craig Teys) during their various performances.

This excellent week ended with ledges to return next year and accolades poured upon the organisers and Lightning Ridge District Bowling Club as their host.
